The Yurt
For more information about the yurt, contact Michael at: smilingwoodsyurts.com.
Our house arrived on a truck with a very ticked off driver (never driven in the mountains...)
We got very good instructions for the platform.
First wall up....23 to go.
Third wall. First window.
Coming around the bend.
Bob said it would hold.
First four rafters took us all day.
The rest went in easily after that.
Tink nails in one of the 1584 boards for our ceiling.
We got the boards when they tore out some bleachers at Oglethorpe gym.
Bob, Shorty and Kelley's dad came to help put the roof on.
Then the windows.
In the dry!
Not enough to do...decided to build a root cellar too.
Up with the stud walls. (There's a joke in there somewhere...)
4X6's cantilever out for the loft.
Kitchen cabinets out of cherry we scored at the Habitat thrift store in Asheville.
Bob taught us how to stick on rock.
Laundry room.
The deck going on...and real steps at the enrance! We hired Bob and Shorty to help with the big stuff like this.
our main entrance to the left Bathroom door by the fridge.
The kitchen.
Loft. Bedroom door is next to pantry.
Bathroom.
The stove Tink's sister gave us.
Our favorite reading spot.
Home.
